Psoriasis Can Cause Early Death Among Sufferers

The psoriasis skin disease was generally thought to be a skin disease that is not a threat to life.  But for those who had the severest forms of psoriasis can truly say that the disease can bring them down.  In the newly reported study, people with psoriasis had 50 percent increased risk of death compared with people without the inflammatory skin disease.

It was found out that, men with severe psoriasis died an average of 3.5 years earlier than men without the condition, while women with severe psoriasis died 4.4 years earlier than women without psoriasis.

It is suggested by the findings that and putting things in perspective tells that due to severe psoriasis, more years of life are lost compared to severe hypertension.

Psoriasis skin disease has been linked to death, like as many as 7.5 million Americans have psoriasis, according to the National Institutes of Health. Record shows that 3,951 patients were identified with severe psoriasis.

It was during the study period that rate of death among patients with severe psoriasis was almost twice as high as in patients without psoriasis, 21.3 deaths per 1,000 individuals per year vs. 12 deaths per 1,000 individuals per year.

People Speculated Cause Of Eczema

The cause of eczema has been speculated by most people by which it explains why it continues to go on spreading at epidemic rates.  Most say that eczema can be caused by heredity, or by some pollutants from industries, or caused b harsh, toxic household chemical and other harsh skin care products.  Treatment products have been sold out and have been in great demand but most of them rarely works.  You must understand eczema first to be able to determine which eczema treatment will work for you.

The skin structure should be understood and it starts ate the surface layer of the skin that is being disturbed. For eczema treatment, thousands of doctors have been recommended shielding lotion. It tries to bond with the outer layer of the skin to form a new layer on the surface of the skin.  That new form of skin layer acts just like the natural surface of the healthy skin, tries to lock in moisture and keeps toxins and irritants out.  Also, it enables the skin to heal and re-form its own protective surface layer. As it repairs, the skin becomes more able to retain moisture on its own.

A Good Reason Why Psoriasis Sufferers Need To Cease Smoking

Quitting smoking can be really hard.  But here is a good reason why you should quit smoking — it does not only take its toll on your body from the inside, it does definitely affect the appearance of the skin on the outside.

The United States researchers have carried out and found out that smoking can greatly increase the risk of psoriasis skin disease.  Symptoms may include skin redness, itching, scaling and inflammation.

Along with well-established hazardous health effects of smoking, these findings provide clear incentives for quitting smoking for those who are at risk and suffering from psoriasis, said by the lead researcher Hyon K. Choi of Harvard Medical School

After looking at the relationship between smoking and psoriasis, the researchers came into a conclusion in more than 78,500 female registered nurses. The women were followed for 14 years, and during that period 887 cases of psoriasis were reported.

Lifetime smoking exposure in pack-years were measured.  A pack-year is the number of packs smoked per day multiplied by the number of years a person has smoked.

It is shown in the results that the risk of psoriasis has increased and heavy smokers can raise the risk further.   or example, in comparison with women who never smoked, the risk of psoriasis was 60 per cent higher for those with a smoking history of 11-20 pack-years and more than two times high for those with 21 or more pack-years of smoking.

The risk of psoriasis has greatly increased when an individual is exposed to second-hand smoke during pregnancy or childhood.

After quitting smoking, researchers found out that the risk for psoriasis has dropped down.
